What’s So special About Today?
Hi Folks, I’m Randy, the host of The Cigar Dudes Podcast, and today is April 26, 2024. What’s so special about today? Well, it all started in the late summer of 2023 on TikTok live, or perhaps it was years in the making. I had been smoking cigars for about five years off and on. In the early part of 2022, I became more interested in the cigar hobby, and by early summer, I was a full-blown cigar Aficionado. Just kidding, I had all the enthusiasm, but I definitely lacked knowledge. I have a researcher personality, and thus my journey began.
I reacquainted myself with TikTok and began posting cigar related content. Mostly to journal the cigars I had smoked. I started to have a ton of fun posting different content, and I began to find similar content creators doing the same. Most were giving their reviews of the cigars they were smoking, showing cigar accessories, or just showing the ones they purchased. I soon realized that I found a whole community of cigar smokers online, and I was in Heaven on earth.
I began to follow different people in that community, and they followed me back. I soon discovered TikTok live, and that was a different animal in and of itself. I was hooked! One night me and my friend Don were on TikTok live, and several folks joined in. This particular live, in my opinion, was the catalyst of what would become, “The Cigar Assassin’s – Killers of the Leaf.”
This group of men and women, whom we affectionately call the brothers and sisters of the leaf, began to get on TikTok Live daily. For me, and so many others, this online gathering became a way to meet up and talk with folks about cigars. Although we always picked each other’s brains about different smokes, it became much deeper than that, more like a therapy session at times. We all soon learned that our “virtual cigar lounge” was bringing people together from all walks of life and from all around the country. Even different continents.
We began to really get to know each other on a very personal level. At times we laugh until we can’t breathe about the most ridiculous things, just like kids. We share our tragedies, but we also share our triumphs. As in life, meaning not in the virtual world, sometimes we argue, but we also talk to each other and work it out. It’s as real as it gets. This led to the formation of The Cigar Assassin’s group, and we formed a Discord community.
The Cigar Assassins is an all-inclusive group, welcoming members from all walks of life. Regardless of one’s background, gender, race, or age, everyone is invited to join this unique community. The group believes in the power of diversity, understanding that different perspectives enrich the overall experience. The Cigar Assassins are not just about smoking cigars; they are about appreciating the art behind it. Being a part of the Cigar Assassins is a learning experience. The group fosters an environment where members can learn from each other, sharing tips and advice on everything from selecting the right cigar to proper cigar etiquette.
What’s so special about today, April 26, 2024? Today I got to meet a huge part of this group in person for the first time. We all met at a Cigar lounge in Conroe Texas. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of camaraderie. The air was thick with the rich aroma of cigars, and the soft murmur of conversations created a soothing background noise. That meeting in the cigar lounge was not just about enjoying a good cigar or two, but about experiencing the bond of a shared passion and many friendships. It is a memory that will always be cherished.
